rob.jpgThe Royal Observatory of Belgium (ROB) wants to hire a new collaborator to participate in its growing space weather operational activities. These operational activities include the production of the International Sunspot Index, the 7d/7d space weather forecast and monitoring, the daily observations of the ground-based USET telescopes and the operations of the SWAP and LYRA space weather instruments onboard the PROBA2 satellite.
ROB also strongly participates in space weather related EU FP7 projects (e.g. SOTERIA, others are in the negotiation phase) and in the emerging ESA program "Space Situational Awareness" that, among others, aims at installing a European-wide space weather infrastructure. In particular for the latter activity, we seek a young professional with a scientific training (master, Phd, engineer) who preferentially has had prior experience with the broad space weather field. The current post is primarily for operational activities, small software development and project studies. A priori, the current post does NOT include fundamental, independent research.
